Death and Life in Spring

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

On the 9th of April I discovered a bee lying dead on my front porch. It was the first bee I had seen this year, and as yet the only bee. It saddened me. Bees have become less common in recent years, and it bodes ill for our world.

On that day, however, I also discovered the first blooms of spring in my front yard.

Pictures of both follow.

Miscellaneous Paragraphs

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

I haven’t been posting here as much as I have on Fudgerylog lately, so here is a brief look at what I am doing now.

I submitted four events to run at Origins 2009, and I am waiting to be notified whether they have been accepted or declined. My procrastination will probably cost me. If I get the green light, I’ll even post the details here as well as at Fudgerylog to entice my readers to give real face-to-face adventure gaming a go. Two of the events are role-playing (one science fiction and one horror/supernatural investigation) and the other two are miniature war games (one modern combat and one Wild West shootout). If they are declined, I’ll try to run them at a smaller convention before the end of the year.

I am currently reading Life in a Medieval City by Joseph and Frances Gies.

I have not seen any movies at the cinema lately.

The last DVD I watched was an episode of The Outer Limits, “The Human Factor.”

In my last dream, I was consoling my friend N_____ who was in tears because she had just been informed by her doctor that she was allergic to “peanut butter salad,” whatever that is.

Today, I plan to watch two episodes of Lovejoy, play a board game or two (one of which I would like to be Total Attack!! Soccer), eat a pot roast (not by myself), and do some writing.
