Some time ago, I mentioned that WordPress had an area in need of improvement, which is its tendency to revert HTML tags to its preferred default whenever one attempts to edit an old post. Well, I stand partially corrected. If one uses the visual editor, or if one uses the code editor yet has the visual editor enabled (allowing one to switch between the visual editor and the code editor at will), then my criticism stands. If, however, one unchecks the “Use the visual editor when writing” box (located near the top of Your Profile in Users), WordPress will respect your HTML tags! Needless to say, I am delighted, and will henceforth never trouble myself with the visual editor again (not that I used it, but I had it enabled).
