Thank You Very Much/

That's the Nicest Thing That Anyone's Ever Done For Me!

I just watched Scrooge (1970) starring Albert Finney, as you may have guessed from the title of today's update. It has been a holiday favorite of mine since I was very young, and I'm happy to say it retains all its magic. Finally, I now own the DVD.

I recently saw The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, henceforth to be referred to as Narnia. As far as film adaptations of books go, I must say it's one of the most faithful I've seen. It was very close to the book, which I feel I can report accurately, having read the book just days before seeing the film. It had very minor (and inevitable) deviations, but overall I found it to be a satisfying children's fantasy/allegory. My favorite beasts in the movie were the griffins. Tilda Swinton made an excellent Witch. The voice of Mr Beaver, by the way, was provided by Ray Winstone who was also in Sexy Beast, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains (Does anyone else remember seeing that movie?), Robin of Sherwood (as Will Scarlet), and the upcoming Beowulf (as Beowulf). And Mrs Beaver was played by none other than Dawn French. It's a good movie, give it a go.

That's all for this update. I know, 'tis a shock, but I start work at nine tomorrow morning and I really need my sleep. I'll update again very soon. I have to; I have a previous record to break!

I'll keep posting if you keep reading. Be seeing you...       :-?
