Already?
I told you I would update Real Soon. My last update was four days ago, although you might have been confused by the date of the posting, since I had forgotten to change that bit. It read "8 October," but was posted on the 20th. Isn't that fascinating? I think I need a nap.
This is another brief update, by the way, because, well, I'm tired.
So, in brief, I had my first day (an orientation day) at my new job at the bookshop in Toledo today. I'm still trying to figure out how to balance two work schedules, but I think I'll try three days at one job and three at the other every week, with all Sundays off (or perhaps Mondays). If I don't have at least one day off a week (preferably a consistent one), I'm afraid I'll resort to smoking cigarettes again to handle the holiday season retail stress overload. I do not want that to happen. Working seven days a week through the holiday season would cushion the financial uncertainty of the new year, but at the risk of my physical and mental health. Yes, the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced of the necessity of reserving that one day a week. Here's the problem. Sundays and Mondays are probably the likeliest days I'll be able to choose between, but if I choose Sundays I'll never be able to dine at my favorite Chinese restaurants, whereas if I choose Mondays I'll never be able to go to any art museums. What can I live without: Chinese food or art museums? 'Tis a cruel choice to make.
My transformation of one of the Cuparium's sister sites to Cascading Style Sheets is coming along smoothly. I admit this after wrestling for nearly one whole day with a positioning problem that I discovered (after much fruitless tinkering) was due to a missing closing tag. I watched the sands of Time just slipping through my fingers for want of a single </ul> tag. Other than that, it's coming along well. Some of it is tedious, but the results are satisfactory.
CBC has reduced the airing of Coronation Street from two episodes a day to one a day. I'm not pleased. North America is already eight months behind the U.K. Couldn't they narrow the gap a bit more?
I'll start renting episodes of Alias Season 4 later this week. At this point, I'm not sure why I bother. My enthusiasm has waned steadily since the middle of Season 2. I attribute it to a misplaced feeling of obligation to finish something I've started, which is something that usually doesn't constrain me where wastes of time are concerned, except that I have other family members whom I foolishly got addicted to the series, and they won't allow me to jump ship. I am, after all, the one with the Netflix subscription.
In contrast, I can't wait for Deadwood Season 2 to be made available. I've seen it through the 18th episode, and I am in awe of the quality of acting, writing, and directing evident in every episode I have seen.
I think that suffices for this update. Goodnight.
I'll keep posting if you keep reading. Be seeing you... :-?
