NEWLY UPDATED

lists

>Read title

Earlier this month, I promised to tell you about my new job next time, but, as you will recall, I didn't. It slipped my mind. Why do I always try to write these updates late at night when I ought to be sleeping? Beats me. By the time I finish this update it will be May in my time zone.

I'm already so tired, I think I'll postpone talking about the new job until later in the week. Suspense! I'm too tired for suspense right now. I'm just trying to post another update for the month of April. Why? I have no idea. Some bizarre self-imposed obligation to fulfill a New Year's resolution, I guess. Just a moment. My tea is ready...

Time passes...

That was pleasant. A bit like one of those old Infocom text-based computer games, isn't it?

>Go north
You are in the living room. There is a door in the north wall, two doors in the east wall, a doorway in the south wall, a window in the south wall, and a window in the west wall.
>Go east
You are in the kitchen. There is a door in the west wall and a door in the north wall. There is a window in the east wall. There is a teapot on the stove. The coffee grinder, coffee maker, and toaster are all unplugged. A refrigerator stands near the north wall. There is a sink under the window.
>Go south
You can't go there.
>Boil some water
I don't know what "boil" is.
>Heat water
I don't see that here.
>Go to sink
You are at the sink.
>Look at sink
There is nothing of interest here.
>Get water
I don't see that here.
>Turn faucet
You can't do that here.
>Operate faucet
I don't know what "operate" is.
>Use faucet
I don't know what you mean.
>Use sink
Water is pouring out of the faucet.
>Get water
You do not have anything to get water with.
>Make tea
You can't do that here.
>Wait
Time passes...
> All I want to do is make some tea, you stupid, pathetic, boring text-based computer game!
I don't know what you mean.
>Of course you don't. Moron.

I think that sums up the joy of Infocom fairly well.

According to the State Highway Patrol, sleepiness and intoxication have pretty much the same effect on one's mental alertness and reflexes. I think this little exercise proves their point. Don't sleep and write. This is a message from Persons Against Sleepy Writing, which does not lend itself to a nifty acronym. Why did I bother? Have I imparted... any information? I think the answer would have to be, "No. No, no, no. Not even remotely. Definitely not. No." Don't mind me, I'm just zzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'll keep posting if you keep reading. Be seeing you...       :-?
