Marching Past March

Well, it seems I missed a month again. What were my parting words last time? "See you in March." Ha! Technical difficulties prevented me from updating the Cuparium, as I fall farther behind in keeping my New Year's resolution. I had better start updating this site like a maniac without a day job. Or, I could just update it when I get the chance. Oh, Hell.

Of all the months to miss, it figures I would miss March, the month that contains both Saint Patrick's Day and the Ides. Every month has its Ides, but March is special, what with Julius Caesar being warned about it and then getting stabbed repeatedly and ironically beneath the statue of Pompey when he pompously ignored the warning. Typical bloody dictator for life.

I bought and finally saw for the first time The Incredibles. For lack of time to write an extensive review, it was great and has excellent rewatchability. My favorite DVD extra is "Vowellet," the video essay by Sarah Vowell, who was the voice of Violet. Sarah Vowell is better known by some of us as a contributor to National Public Radio's This American Life and the author of Take the Cannoli, Radio On: A Listener's Diary, The Partly Cloudy Patriot, and her latest book, Assassination Vacation. Buy her books, read them, and proceed to recommend them to your friends. Her essay alone is worth the price of the DVD.

When I started this update, I was certain it would be quite lengthy, but as I write this sentence, I realize I would rather just stop writing and go to bed at the nearly reasonable time of slightly after midnight so I can rise at an hour that does not necessitate driving to work at speeds of 70 to 100 miles per hour to avoid being tardy. Yes, living 90 miles away from one's workplace presents challenges for those insane enough to be caught in such a situation, as I am. To bed, then, I go. And next time I'll tell you about my new job... in the city where I live! (My last day at the current job is the 15th. 'Tis hard to believe, and yet, what in gods' names took me so long?)

I just remembered something else I wanted to include in this update, but instead I'll just tell you I remembered it and promise to mention it next time. Soon. This month.

I'll keep posting if you keep reading. Be seeing you...       :-?
