NEWLY UPDATED

links

lists

Er... Oops

Did I mention that my New Year's resolution was to update the Cuparium more often in 2005 than I did in 2004? Ah, well. The year isn't over yet. I missed January, but there are eleven more months to go.

As I updated the links page, I noticed many, many links bearing the designation NEW, although at least one was added as long ago as October. It has been my tradition to announce the addition of new links here on the front page of the Cuparium, but a number of them have slipped past without fanfare, casualties of my mismanagement of time. I won't make amends now (I'm too busy procrastinating), but I will mention the latest addition, Take Our Word For It, yet another Web site for etymology junkies. Most of the other formerly new links are in the same category.

Jumping back to the subject of resolutions (my attention span is impaired by that headache I described in the last update (and yes, it's the same headache)), I forgot to mention some of my other resolutions. One of them is to try the new Jewish-Italian deli that opened downtown. I want to have breakfast and lunch there sometime before the end of the year. I can't remember the name of the place, but it's next door to a used bookshop called Books on Main. Independently owned restaurants and businesses need our support, so I try to do my part whenever I can and they always take precedence over chains.

I saw Elektra two weekends ago. Apparently it hasn't done well, and most of the votes on IMDb.com have been split between 10s and 1s (more of the former than the latter when I last checked), with the next highest rating being 7s. Somehow, with their oddball method of averaging, it comes to 4.7 or 4.9, which seems unfair to me. I thought it was good for a comic book movie, and I thought Jennifer Garner did a fine job of acting, although I heard she didn't like it. It's too bad. I could ponder aloud all the reasons why someone would rate the movie a 1, but I won't bother because anyone who would give it a 1 is an idiot. Even if it isn't the greatest movie ever made, it sure as hell doesn't deserve a rating of 1. I wanted to see it again, but it has all but disappeared from the local cinemas. I guess I'll wait for the DVD release.

I have other news, but I'll save it for next time. 'Tis late, and I must rise early. Nighty night!

I'll keep posting if you keep reading. Be seeing you...       :-?
