For this (overdue) update I planned to provide a list of persons to contact regarding state recounts, but I am still trying to ascertain the current stage of those various recounts. In lieu of this, I recommend the following books for your pleasure and edification:
- You Have the Power by Howard Dean
- Homegrown Democrat by Garrison Keillor
- Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them by Al Franken
I've been meaning to recommend the last two for a long time. I own them both. I just started the first one, and although it is no literary masterpiece, it provides an interesting insight into the candidate I originally supported (Howard Dean) before he dropped out of the race to support John Kerry, to whom I also transferred my support in the presidential election. I enjoyed David Letterman's comment about Dean: "I want a president who yells and pushes cameras and beats people up!" An exaggeration, of course, but indicative of a greater truth: Howard Dean is his own man and cannot be controlled by a political party, rather like Theodore Roosevelt was. Dean has both progressive and populist leanings that appeal to me. I'll discuss this further after I read the book.
In addition to the voting-related Web sites I linked on the eleventh and thirteenth (and hereby alphabetize):
I would like to draw your attention to the following:
I also recommend this article on Green Party candidate Cobb seeking a recount in Ohio, an exhaustive list of links at the Stolen Election Library, and a highly interesting document obtainable as a PDF from a link on the main page at BallotIntegrity.org (just scroll down a bit if necessary) regarding unexplained exit poll discrepencies.
This Thursday is one of my favorite days of the year here in the States: Thanksgiving Day. And for the first time in many years, I will not have to work the following day! I shall have four consecutive days of relaxation! Nothing else seems to be going my way this year, but at least Thanksgiving is!
'Tis nice to write a paragraph untainted by political news. Here is another...
As you can see from the NEWLY UPDATED corner of the Cuparium, I have added a new list and updated another. See? I have two more DVDs on the way, so I shall be updating that list within the week. [Correction: within the night.] And there are at least two films I wish to see at the cinema in the very near Time Yet to Come. Comments are forthcoming. Not that you need me to tell you what to watch and what not to watch. Och, I'm rambling. Ta'ra.
PS: The 2004 Election results are still UNOFFICIAL.
Peace.
I'll keep posting if you keep reading. Be seeing you... :-?
