NEWLY UPDATED

lists (slightly)

Write Now

O.K., here we go:

This is a quick update (to be followed by a lengthier one in a few days) to remind (or inform) you that U.S. elections have increasingly become a travesty. From voting machine malfunctions to voting systems that lack a verifiable paper trail to widespread voter disenfranchisement (and the list goes on and on), the survival of our Republic as a democratic institution is at stake. If we do not act now, if we do not make our voices heard, if we do not assume our responsibilities as citizens, then we can only blame ourselves for the demise of democracy. Now is the time to take a stand. Now is the time to demand fair elections and accurate counts. Now is the time to tell our election officials and lawmakers that there is no representation without clean elections and we will not allow our rights as voters to be transgressed. We, the People, are the fundamental basis of our government. It belongs to us, and we are here to claim it.

Yesterday I wrote to the Secretary of State of New Hampshire to urge a recount to be conducted to ensure that the results of that election are accurate. I am one of many across the country who are engaged in this effort. In the next few days I shall be sending similar requests to Ohio, Nevada, New Mexico, Florida, and Iowa. Today and tomorrow, however, New Hampshire has the highest priority. Please send an e-mail as soon as possible to elections@sos.state.nh.us to call for a statewide recount and an investigation of voting irregularities. It doesn't need to be long. Just be sincere and polite.

If we can prove the case for New Hampshire, it will go far in advancing the case for other states including my own state of Ohio, which I am certain was incorrectly called for Bush. I shall provide the necessary contact information in the next few days, so come back often. For now, though, send that letter to elections@sos.state.nh.us and spread the word to your civic-minded friends.

Meanwhile, here are some important and relevant links:

And don't forget: the 2004 Election results are still UNOFFICIAL.

Peace.

I'll keep posting if you keep reading. Be seeing you...       :-?
