Summary Exposition
Two o'clock in the morning isn't the best time to start writing when one tries to rise at six, but what the Hell. I shall strive for brevity.
I conquered the common cold, by which I mean I succumbed to it for about two weeks before recovering. I'm not the type who enjoys illness. There are those who do, and I assure you they are sick. Sick, I say!
Being well means I can once again take my tea with milk and my coffee with cream. I try to avoid dairy products when I'm not well.
My latest discovery is that drinking fruit juice instead of soda does not prevent heartburn when one drinks it in quantities almost as great as one drank soda. Yes, I tend to do things to extremes. It's amazing how... acidic fruit juice can be. Once again, I learn how to do things in moderation. Diversity, that's the key (and not just a diversity of the same thing). There I go again. On Saturday I caught myself uttering another Yogi Berra-like koan as I stated emphatically, "When everybody's alike, then everyone's the same!" I don't remember the substance of the conversation. Totalitarianism? Conformity? SUVs? All of the above? If I ever remember, I'll let you know.
'Twas Saturday that my parents took me to lunch at Wilson's, a movie, and dinner at a Chinese restaurant -- all in honor of the anniversary of my cessation of cigarette smoking. The movie was School of Rock, starring Jack Black, and, well, it rocked. Excuse me, I meant to say, IT ROCKED! SEE IT NOW!
I am late in mentioning that the U.S.A. defeated Canada for third place in the Women's World Cup a week ago. I missed that match, but I did see Germany and Sweden play. I had planned to support Germany simply because I was impressed by how hard they played against my team, but as soon as the match started I realized that I had to support Sweden. They played their hearts out and it truly was a magnificent match. They allowed too many corner kicks, but they played beautifully otherwise, carrying the game into overtime. Germany won 2:1 and became the new World Champions, but I gained an additional favorite team: Sweden.
On Sunday evening I concluded my weekend by watching Terror of Mechagodzilla, Godzilla versus Mothra, Godzilla 2000, and Gorgo. I ought to have stopped after the third movie. As I said before: extremes. And now: z's. Nighty night...
I'll keep posting if you keep reading. Be seeing you... :-?
