Another Exhaustive, Insightful Update Avoided
Learn this lesson and learn it well: Do not... something. I forgot. I am far too tired to be up at this hour typing away. I ought to be deep in slumber. But here I am, typing and typing and supposedly communicating... something. At the moment, the only thought I have is: zzzz. So that's my story and I'm dreaming it. Zzzz.
Succinct Notes
Wake up before dawn. Write when mostly conscious, unlike now.
Site-Seeing
I haven't been roving much lately. Did you know I often update the sections of this page in reverse order? 'Tis true. I don't know why I do it. I don't know why I'm mentioning it. But... maybe I shouldn't wait until I am on the verge of falling asleep to write these things... at 1:09 a.m.
From the Bookshelf
Should I mention the book I am reading, the next book I plan to read, the book I recently purchased, or the next book I plan to purchase? Or should I stall until next week? Hm...
At the Cinema
I saw Seabiscuit with my parents a few weeks ago. My father said, "The movie is good, but the book is great. I think you would like the movie less if you had read the book." Then he and my mother pointed out everything that was incorrect in the movie. I have not yet read the book, but I'm inclined to think the adaptation was a failure. The story was Hollywoodized -- and that's not a cause for surprise, but for melancholy resignation, because sometimes I am just too tired to be outraged.
To alleviate the dissatisfaction of the movie I saw at the cinema, I rented another Hayao Miyazaki film, Kiki's Delivery Service, which is about a young girl who sets out for a year away from home to begin training as a witch. It was pleasantly diverting, although not the equal of My Neighbor Totoro or Spirited Away.
On the Telly
Cartoon Network is finally showing the second season of the only anime television series (other than Cowboy Bebop) that I like, The Big O. I'm not sure if this is the first episode of the season or not. The best way to watch either series is on video, because Cartoon Network has a tendency to pre-empt anything that has a continuing plot. "To be continued" always means "Part Two to be pre-empted for another marathon of stupid cartoons you have seen before and never cared to see again."
Quotations, Possibly?
