On Time
I have decided to purchase five or six timers of the non-electronic variety and distribute them throughout my house and one each for my car and my workplace in order to impose some sort of structure on my perception of time, which ordinarily has no relation to time as it passes externally and is experienced by others. In this way, I hope to defeat my forgetfulness and cultivate a form of punctuality that I hope will eventually become almost instinctive. If I am successful, this will lead to more free time for writing, reading, drawing, and other pursuits. All I need to do now is remember to buy the timers. I had better write myself a note...
Succinct Notes
The Cuparium needs a new background. I have visited my site on several other computers, and the background doesn't look nearly as nice on them as it does on my computer. I'd like a new background similar to the present one, but which looks equally good on other platforms. Any suggestions?
Site-Seeing
Have I seen anything new worth reporting this week?
No.
From the Bookshelf
On Friday I bought The Mother Tongue: English and How It Got That Way by Bill Bryson. I needed something light to read between tasks.
At the Cinema
I saw Bulletproof Monk Sunday evening. 'Twas entertaining -- better than I had anticipated, actually.
Before it started, I saw a preview of a movie I must see: Shaolin Soccer! This one looks like a winner. If you enjoy offbeat martial arts movies, I hope you get an opportunity to see this trailer.
On the Telly
I have mentioned Monk in passing, but neglected to divulge any details. In short, I find it highly entertaining, primarily because of Tony Shalhoub's portrayal of the brilliant and hapless former police detective Adrian Monk, and Bitty Schram's portrayal of his employee (nurse/secretary/assistant?) Sharona Fleming. It is funny, poignant, and well acted, although the stories are sometimes a wee bit uneven. I'm addicted, and if there is one program I would least want to miss in any given week, it is currently Monk. Thanks for telling me to watch it, Nicole!
Quotations, Possibly?
"Obsessive. Compulsive. Detective."
--from the tagline for Monk.
I'll keep posting if you keep reading. Be seeing you... :-?
